Aripaev wants to know whether the employees of Silja Line who work on the Helsinki-Stockholm route know their new owners and what they feel about the takeover.
Most of the employees do not recognise the faces of Tallink bosses Enn Pant
and Ain Hanschmidt. Staff in a fashion shop on the ship Serenade say that the
Tallink deal is the darkest scenario for them, as the wages at Silja Line are
currently much higher than at Tallink. Silja’s employees have heard that Tallink
has replaced some of its Estonian employees with people from Latvia, as the
latter are cheaper.
