Tallink adds Riga-Stockholm route second vessel
21/03/2007 09:58

AS Tallink Grupp announced, that from 26th of April M/S Vana Tallinn will start operating as the second vessel on Riga-Stockholm shipping route.

The schedule of the route will have departures from both destination ports every day.

Tallink Latvija Managing Director Hillard Taur said that the second vessel will add the route the necessary capacity and enables the company to offer every-day services from both destination ports. „From 26th of April the travelers as well as cargo transporters don’t have to track any more, on what day they can go, but to plan trips throughout the week. Additionally we see here the growing synergies with other routes operated by the company, for instance from Stockholm there are already various shipping routes to Finland and Estonia,” said Taur.

M/S Vana Tallinn will have the first departure on Riga-Stockholm route on 26th of April at 17.30 from Riga. The vessel will operate by the same schedule as M/S Regina Baltica.

The ship leaves Tallinn-Helsinki route as the new high speed vessel Star is coming in, on 4th of April doing its last trip on the route at 20.15 from Helsinki. 5. – 24.th of April M/S Vana Tallinn is prepared for starting operating on the Riga-Stockholm route.
M/S Vana Tallinn will operate the Riga-Stockholm route regarding the destination port under the Latvian flag.

On the Riga-Stockholm route AS Tallink Grupp operates also with the passenger ferry Regina Baltica. M/S Vana Tallinn is a 1 B ice class vessel, which accommodates up to 800 passengers and 730 lane meters of vehicles. The ship is 153,8 meters long and 22,3 meters wide and its speed is 18 knots.

AS Tallink Grupp is one of the leading shipping companies on Baltic Sea, which owns 21 vessels and operates on seven different shipping routes. Additionally the company operates two hotels in central Tallinn. AS Tallink Grupp has more than 6000 employees.
