It is going to be the most successful year so far for Klaipeda in terms of the number of ships.
Lina Gudelionyte-Gyliene, head of marketing at Klaipeda State Seaport, said
there would be 67 “tourist ships” this year, instead of last year‘s 58. Some
25,000 cruise tourists came on 49 ships last year.
This year‘s cruise season will start on May 20 and last until the end of
September. Klaipeda was chosen by 20 cruise-ship operators this year, new
connections being made with the British company Thomson Cruises. Tim Moore, head
of planning at Fred Olsen Cruise Line, said that tourists like Klaipeda.
This year they will be taken to the city‘s Akropolis shopping center by bus.
The port expects LTL 3 million in revenue this year.
